Convert serial cable to plug into USB?

I have a game controller that has a serial cable. Obviously my computer now only has usb input. What is the device called that I'd plug the serial cable into on one end that would have a usb on the other end?

Update:

I know it's a serial to USB converter. I see a lot of different ones and don't know which one to get. How do I figure out male or female, number of pins, etc

    The kind of converter you need depends on the connections you're talking about. To find out what kind of serial connection you need, look at the serial cable in question. How many pins does it have? You need to get an adapter with the same number of pins. Does the connector on the serial cable have pins or just holes? If it just has holes, you need an adapter with a male connector. If it has pins, you need an adapter with a female connector. The other end of the converter will need a male USB connector. The converter will plug directly into your computer.
