Do you consider "Sean/Shawn" a girl or boy name?

It's been used for both genders...

but which do you prefer it on?

  • I like it as a boys name and usually feel when it is a girls name it is because the parents wanted a boy.

  • I don't like it on either gender really. I just don't like the name. But I'd say boy. Nothing about it is feminine. It is definitely a boys name. The only Sean's I've met have been boys. Just because a name can be used for a girl, doesn't mean it should be. If you have to ask which gender it sounds better on, don't use it.

  • The name Sean reminds me of Boy Meets World but his name was spelled Shawn =)

I personally prefer the spelling Sean and I've only heard the name used on boys.

  • I love the name Shawn. I like it on boys. I have an aunt with the name Shawn. I don't like it on girls.

  • It's a boy name.

  • I consider it to be a boy name.

  • Boy defiantly i like Shawn much better spell it how it sounds :) maybe your thinking of Shawna for a girl x

  • Boy but I don't like the name for either!

  • Iv heard it on both boys and girls but i like it better with boys... however Shauna is wide open for girls...also ever consider a different spelling with a slightly different sound like Shown?

  • It's a boy's name. I never heard it on a girl.
