Does North Korea engage in any global trade?
I understand that North Korea is a communist nation with a primarily socialist economic system. However, do they engage in the global market at all? Or are their borders completely closed off from all foreign trade and investment?

They trade with China and even South Korea a little bit. But mostly China.
Yes, sure things. It buys rice and foods from many Asian countries, mostly China. It sells weapons and nuclear technologies to many countries in the middle east.
They appear to do a lot of black market meth and arms sales, seriously. They have also have a very fine counterfeiting industry.
