Ideas child's Birthday Party Problem?

Every year my son gets upset at opening presents he finds one he likes and never wants to move on. Or if the other children see what he's opening and want to play with it, he also gets upset. Last year these two things happened and My husband had to handle a work issue, they called right in the middle of opening presents, it's not my husband fault, he is a very good man, but this sent my son into a upset fit, I had to take him away from the room to his bedroom for 5 min leaving our quests sitting down stairs. I really don't know how to handle it this year. any suggestions please

Update:

I just want my son to have fun and have a memorial Birthday, without ending up crying in his room.

  • It might be best to have him open the presents after his guests have left. Thank the guests for the presents when they bring them at the beginning of the party, and spend the rest of the party with guests and food or whatnot. If any of the kids asks when your son's going to open the presents, just say that there are so many things planned that you think you won't have time for it.

  • Trying having a discussion about what you expect before hand.

Like at your party we are going to open presents and you can't stop because you find one you really like. Also we need to share so you can't be upset if the other children want to play with them.

Do this a few times and a few days before the party. Then quietly right before opening presents

  • How old is he? I would just not have a birthday party. Why try to fit a square block into a round hole? Especially if he is over 5 and can totally understand the decision. If he does not like it, 5 yr olds are old enough to practice, prepare and make better behavior choices. Otherwise, he has a lifetime of parties ahead of him and you should wait until he can handle it better. If he was afraid of water would you throw him in until he could swim???

  • A has the right idea , put the presents aside and request the hubby not answer the phone during the childs party , afterwards when you, hubby, and jr. open the presents, teach your child how important it is to send out thank you notes. even if he just scribbles his/ her name after a preprinted message.

  • once you stated undesirable toddlers i grew to become into questioning of something else, yet thank you for clarifying that they are only handicapped. I do have some innovations, which includes... nicely i will't say them because of the fact it would be beside the point in this internet site yet they might contain you studying some manners( the effective way of putting it). How might desire to you be so vulnerable to call them "cretins"? i might extremely like an answer. say in the journey that your daughter grew to become into like that what might you do, having her refrained from via people like your self. My considerable suggestion may be to sign up your self right into a variety that, or extra useful yet help those "cretins". they have been in all probability born like that. one in all our suitable astrophysicist grew to become right into a "handicapper". particularly i only desire that your daughter has sufficient psychological potential to no longer follow on your slender minded footsteps.
