Do I have a mental problem?!?

Umm well I've never told anyone this before although I've kinda hinted my friends about it. But I'm obsessed with sympathy! I can't help it! Sometimes I wish bad things would happen to me just to get sympathy and attention and stuff and to see how many people would care, although if anything did happen I'd wish my parents wouldn't like care at all and they didn't have to be apart of it at all unless I was wishing for like that they would abuse me WHICH IS SO SO SICK I KNOW!!!

But these ideas and images do come into my my head and once they're there I can't get them to go away!

PLEASE HELP!!!

  • It is not sympathy you are obsessed with. It is self pity. Self pity comes when we try to make excuses when we have to do something and won't or can't because we are full of fear. We try to make others feel pity for us. We can't say NO to certain things. Although we want to. Then we get angry then figure, why me ? Be confident . Say No to people who ask you to do things you don't want to do. Your world will not crash in on you. I promise.

People sense this in you even if you think they don't. And they will not feel sympathy for you.

What you crave is attention and the ability to not be shy . Just be happy. All those feelings will disappear about getting attention. People are drawn to a cheerful , happy person. Enjoy it. Nothing bad will happen to you.

  • this seems like you crave sympathy,at any cost, willing to be sick, or worse to get it. this is indeed a mental issue.you are wanting your parents to abuse you so you can have sympathy. please see a therapist. i don't think it's bad right now, but it could get that way. there are great medications for this.some people get mad when the dr. tells them they have a good test results. they want something to be wrong so they can have sympathy.this is a hereditary illness.but there is help.happy holidays!!!

  • alot of teens want sympathy and attention to a degree but if it's really bad check out 'Narcassistic Personality Disorder' on Wikipedia, it sounds like you have some symptoms of that.

  • No it's not a mental problem it's obsessing over yourself.
