Quaker Parakeet or Parrotlet?

I am sort of a first time bird owner, i used to own a pair of cockatiels but i don't remeber much. I have done my research am i am tied between either purchasing a quaker parakeet or parrotlet. Please let me know which one is better for me.

Update:

I would prefer only answers of either quaker or parrotlet, i have had a budgie, and would like either a quaker or parrotlet, and which one of these two is more independant?

  • I'm not sure which would be best for you because I don't know anything about you. But quakers and parrotlets are very similar so I'm sure either will be fine for you. Parrotlets tend to not like other species and often don't even like their own species! So if you're thinking about adding to your flock in the future, you may want to avoid them. Also some quakers don't get a long well with other species but at least they don't dislike their own species :)

Of course they all have their own personalities so you should check them out before you buy them. See if they get along with their neighbors at the pet store or at the breeder.

If you have second thoughts, check out the Pet Parrot Picker below for more ideas.

Good luck with whatever you decide. I hope you like your new bird :)

  • quakers are amazing yet they could b very noisy. I had 2 of them and that i enjoyed them 2 dying yet they actually do have distinctive personalities. some could be in simple terms loveable and a few and be recommend and nasty and by no ability be that loveble fowl you go with. i assume i wouldnt get yet another quaker lower back. bypass with the parrotlet

  • I personally would reccomend budgies. They are smaller and easier but have all the personality and make gret pets especially as a pair.
