I need paradoxes.?

I don't want really stupid paradoxes, like this one :

God has the power to do anything, so he creates a rock that not even he can move.

He can do anything, but he just cant move the rock.

Well, that is the worst paradox ever. The answer to this, is the first bit is false. If he cant move the rock, he cant do everything. You could say that he could do most everything, but it wouldn't be a paradox because the answer is obvious. I want some paradoxes that aren't very well known.

  • The paradox you cited is not stupid. You might want to rephrase it as a question which asks:

"If a god had the power to do anything, could it create a rock that it could not move?"

There is no false bit and you haven't answered it. Your making an assumption that this god had already created it is a fallacy in itself. If you assume that this god has created such a rock you are readily admitting that this god can therefore not be all-powerful. As a consequence there is no paradox to consider.

I'm sorry but your reasoning is flawed to say the least.

    You want a paradox?

    Try the Monty Hall problem.

(It ain't really a paradox. The mathematics is sound, but it appears so.)

  • The first paradox you mentioned is not wrong. The christian God is supposed to be all powerful, all knowing, omnipresent etc so they can't just say "God can do mostly everything"

  • Everything needs a creator....except God.
