Mac OS X Snow Leopard?

Ok, so i bought the Mac OS X Snow Leopard for my 10.5.8. Mac Book Pro. Well once I bought the disc I tried to insert it on my mac and it would not take it, since my CD taker is broken. I was wondering if there is anyway to get the snow leopard on my mac without putting the CD in the computer. Also I found this and it says you can use 2 computers to do it i was wondering if the host computer needed to be a mac (the computer with the working CD taker).

1. Turn your installation computer on. Turn on the host computer and insert the Snow Leopard disc.

2. Connect both computers on your local network.

3. Open the Sharing Pane on the Systems Preferences tool on your host computer. Enable DVD or CD sharing.

4. Open the Finder on your installation computer.

5. Select Remote Disc located on the sidebar. Double-click the icon of your host computer. Wait for the "connected" message.

6. Double-click "Install DVD," then the "Mac OSX" icon. Follow the installation instructions.
