MLB: Atlanta Braves Trade Rumor Help?

Okay, the Atlanta Braves made a huge trade and got Dan Uggla. Im excited, but I still wish we could atleast get another big trade in before the next season. Adrian Beltre is still available but I do not think we are going to work something out with him. Are the Braves after Carl Pavano? I heard there was a mystery team involved but the odds of it being the Braves are very slim. I was just wondering. I feel like the Braves need another Ace Starter besides Tim Hudson to atleast stand a chance against the Phillies and kind of let Mike Minor not start as often because of his 5.56 ERA or whatever it was. Maybe the Braves are interested in getting Adrian Beltre but I just don't think we have the budget to do so. So, if anyone knows anything about who the Braves are pursuing, Help me out(: Thanks

Update:

I know all of the trade rumor sites like mlbtraderumors.com and stuff. But I was just wondering if anyone knew anything else other than that specific source. The Braves are interested in Pavano?

  • Frank Wren has said himself that he is pretty much done with moves this offseason, aside from maybe giving Dan Uggla an extension. We currently do not need Adrian Beltre, nor have the money to sign him. Chipper Jones should be ready for Spring Training, and, if not, Martin Prado would take over 3rd base. The Braves' rotation is also set with Mike Minor and Brandon Beachy vying for the 5th spot. Believe me, Mike Minor's ERA is very deceiving. He has a lot of skill, but got tired at the end of the year. He never endured that workload in college.

    Tim Hudson

    Tommy Hanson

    Jair Jurrjens

    Derek Lowe

    Mike Minor/ Brandon Beachy

That's a pretty solid rotation. Don't overlook it.

    C- Brian McCann

    1B- Freddie Freeman

    2B- Dan Uggla

    3B-Chipper Jones

    LF- Martin Prado

    CF- Nate Mclouth

    RF- Jason Heyward

  • Do you REALLY want your team overpaying for Pavano or Beltre?

Beltre was a free agent in 2004 and had a monster year. Every year prior to that, he was mediocre in comparison... especially considering they were the height of the steroid years. 2010, he is again a free agent.... and he had another monster year. Do you see a trend here? He is one of these guys who relaxes when he doesn't need to play for a new contract. He can be a decent upgrade to a lot of teams, but not if he's going to ask for Jason Werth money. I think he's worth a 2 year $20 million contract at best, or if he wants more than 4 years, under $8 million per season. You know he'll probably get a 5 year $80 million deal from someone desperate.

You think Pavano is another ace to go alongside Hudson? I think you just dissed Hudson with that comment. Pavano isn't an ace. He's a solid #3, maybe a #2 on teams with no pitching.... and he's injury prone. I mean, there's like one player who is probably more injury prone than Pavano, and that's Rich Harden.

The Braves biggest hole is probably there bench. The Giants beat them because we had better bench players and could utilize them to make better matchups against opposing pitching staffs. Another hole is 1st base I think.. and if Chipper retires or can't come back, then you'll have one in LF.

  • We are done this offseason coming from a Braves fan. The only questions for next season is our 5th starter and CF

    1. 5th Starter- Mike Minor or Brandon Beachy. 2 totally different players. Mike Minor is a strikeout pitcher with filthy stuff but a very small control problem while Brandon Beachy is a pinpoint control pitcher similar to the former Braves great Greg Maddux

    2. Cf- Matt Young, Jordan Schafer, or Nate McLouth. Matt Young is a young player that has been in the system for a while that has great numbers and he is finally getting his chance. Jordan Schafer has been doing a rigourous training session for 6 hours a day right now and he still has a chance to be the Braves next big CF. Nate McLouth the only thing about him is if he performs well he gets the job.

I predict a Big trade involving Jair Jurrigens mid season for a Jose Bautista type player because by then Julio Teheran (Braves 2nd best prospect) will be ready to be in the majors

P.S. go on the website called talking chop

  • Pavano is looking for 3 years @ $12 to $14 million per...Although he might be nice to have around as an eventual Derek Lowe replacement, that's a bit steep to pay right now. I'd say the Braves rotation is pretty solid as it is with Lowe and Hudson providing veteran leadership for young guns Jurrjens and Hanson.

Similarly, Beltre is looking for a $70 to $85 million over 5 to 7 years...That's just not the kind of contract that fits into the Braves philosophy..

Honestly, their biggest need is more for "insurance" guys rather than front-line stars. They'd probably like a right-handed platoon partner to keep the pressure off Freddie Freeman, so they could re-sign Troy Glauss or bring in a Jorge Cantu...They'd also probably like a CF in case McClouth continues to struggle....right now the biggest CF name is potential 2012 free agent Carlos Beltran...but it's hard to see him being traded within the division.

The good news is that the Braves, as usual, have a load of young arms to trade...so as players become available near the deadline, they'll get a lot of calls from the "sellers." For now, I'd look for them to sit tight and pick up some lower-level free agents off the leftover pile.

  • Carl Pavano is going to the Twins, the only two teams in the hunt for him are the Twins and Washington D.C, and mostly likely it will be the Twins.

  • anyone knows anything about who the Braves are pursuing............

Yeh - the Braves front office knows. No one here knows anything but the same rumors you know.

Hope this helped you out (:

  • that's a competent question. i'm hoping we dont commerce Tex so according to threat we could have of project to provide up him. His kin lives in my native land so I form of have faith that he could renounce. I additionally heard a rumor someplace that we are finding at Roy Oswalt yet IDK.
