How do you do a "system restore"?

How do you restore your computer by doing a "system restore"?

i tried to restore my computer by doing a "system restore" but it wouldn't let me go back to any of the bolded dates... any reason why this may be happening? How can i get it to restore back?

I understand that i may not have created checkpoints, but don't the bolded dates mean it was an automatic checkpoint? And if i didn't have a checkpoint ... can i go back now any way? I only want to go back about 3 weeks

  • what computer program do you have Windows XP, Windows 98

    If Windows XP

    Start

    control panel

    performance/maint

    system restore

The computer may have created a restore point for you that would be the bold date

  • Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com/

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

  • the bold dates indicate the date and times you can go back, if you click a bold date and it tells you that you are unable to go back to that date, it sounds like your system restore is messed up, the only thing you could do is reformat your computer and lose it all, system restore is hosed and won't work.

  • I had this problem too, in the end I had to scrap that computer and buy a new one, I presume your trying to restore because it's f***ed up in some way?

  • u cant go back if u have not created any checkpoints previously

  • Give these a look.
