Yes, on the 4th generation Chrysler minivans with the 3.3 and 3.8 engines the fuel injector sub-harness is routed too close to the exhaust so the wiring insulation turns to powder and the wires short out. It is an easy fix though if it is taken care of before it shorts, if it fails it can and will damage/destroy the PCM.
The transmission will usually be fine as long as you regularly change the fluid and filter and ONLY use ATF+4 MS-9602 fluid.
