Math Problem?
I was sucsseful in depleating my gas tank. On 05-20-07 , I purchased $34.50 of gas. I was able to go 449.1 miles to the last tank of gas. It gave me 10.331 gallons of gas. I want to know how much of the $34.50 I used to get me home.
The odometer read from where I purchased the gas (Camp Pendleton Gas Station) 263,787 to home 263,826.
I own a 1997 Toyota Tercel.

The following assumes you filled up your tank with $34.50 and gas consumption is constant...
Find out average miles per gallon:
449.1/10.331 = 43.47 miles/gallon
Find price per gallon:
$34.50/10.331 gallons = $3.339 / gallon
Find out how many miles you drove home:
826 - 787 = 39 miles
Find out how many gallons of gas you burned driving home.
39 miles * (1 gallon / 43.47 miles) = .8942 gallons
Find out how much .8942 gallons costs:
.8942 gallons * ($3.339/1 gallon) = $2.986 ~ $2.99
Us e a calculator, lol
