How do I get a DOS promt on windows 7?

I need to install a patch to run an older printer and it says it can be done from a DOS prompt

    Hold the windows key and press R. If you don't have a keyboard like that, just click on the Windows Button to pop open the screen.

    Then, type 'cmd' without the quotes and press enter.
