How do DLP projectors compare to LCD?
There's the BenQ SH910 that is DLP and it has 4000 lumens and a contrast of 3,000:1
Then something like the Epson 5010 is LCD and it has 2400 lumens and a contrast of 200,000:1
The contrast and lumens are so different from one another. What could have better quality?
Comments
Quality of the image created by the projector is a highly subjective thing.
However, given the numbers you provided, the BenQ is much brighter. It will work much better in a place that has more ambient light in the room.
The contrast is a logarithmic measurement. Once you get past about 5000 it's very hard to see the difference.
Generally speaking DLP has better color range, but you'll have to see it to judge for yourself. Again, this is in the very subjective part of the field.
Good Luck
