Does USB Y-splitter + 1500mA wifi adapter + AC>USB adapter (1000mA) + USB 2.0 port (500mA) = OK?

Oh - I was trying to sum it up in the question.. My new wifi adapter/antenna is 1500mA. USB 2.0 is 500mA. I could connect USB Y-Splitter to 2x USB ports (1000mA), but instead I bought a 1000mA AC-to-USB power adapter. If I plug Y into AC, USB, and antenna- am I good to go with 1500mA or am I going to fry a port?

Thanks!

  • don't do it, as the output from the USB adapter will be different from that of your pc, probably a lot more ripple voltage that could harm your board. The best way to go about powering your USB device would be to get a powered USB hub. Here's a few examples but you can get them just about anywhere:

One of these will provide all the power your devices needs without blowing the fuse on your motherboard. Make sure you get one that's got a rated output of 1500mA or more though. good luck!

  • circulate to a save and purchase a USB Port Hub. it fairly is a gadget which if promises 4 USB ports in one. some has purely 3 or 2. maximum possibly, you will see a minimum of three USB ports in one. once you're a Singaporean, circulate to Sim Lim sq. and get one. it is going to be on the 4th floor.
