How do I connect my PS3 to my computer?

I have the older PS3 (fat one) and am running Windows 7 on my computer. The PS# recognizes my computer but won't let me connect to it, saying I need to register my PS3 with the media server on my computer. I've opened up Windows Media Center and it has instructions on how to easily connect to an Xbox 360 but that's as far as it goes. It has no instructions on how to connect to anything else. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
