Death Punishment? Yes/No?

Do you believe it is 'cruel and 'inhumane' or completely justified?

Yes/No. Explain Why.

Just wanting to see what other people's beliefs on this topic are.

Thanks.

  • I have no problem with capital punishment. It is supported by the word of God.........>

It is usually far less cruel than what they did to other people to deserve such a punishment........>

  • I was a prison warden for 39 years and participated in 19 executions. I will tell you that it is far easier to be in favor of the death penalty than it is to do it. It would be far easier if the individual you were executing was as you believed him to be, "a beast", "a murdering pig", or a "vicious animal." They are not however. Death Row changes a person. It takes years for the process to work itself out. During that time you and the death row inmate grow up together. He watches you get promoted up the ranks and you watch him change from a violent young kid to a wiser adult. You begin as opposites while he tries to get over on you and you work just as hard to keep him contained. But as the years pass, his family either dies or drops out of his life. Yes, he committed a horrible horrible crime and no one can excuse him from that. Yes, he deserves the death penalty. But at the end, you discover that you and the other members of the execution squad are the best friends he has. So, it is fitting that you are there to make sure that he is treated decently and that the execution is done professionally.

    I didn't sleep those nights.

  • As long as its run by the qualifications given in the Scriptures.

Such as two witnesses and of course, those two witnesses have to agree, and if they are caught lying in the future when someone was already put to death then they die the same way.

I think jail is a stupid idea for almost any crime. Either make thieves pay back 4 and 5 times as much as they stole or make them make a living inside the city of refuge where it becomes their prison but they still can pay back what they owe or let them be sold into servitude (what do you think prison is? its low balling servitude). There's no sense in locking a man up and making others pay for his idleness. Its just nothing but a racket anymore.

  • I believe it is justified in some cases, serial killers, mass murderers, child killers and cases involving torture, killing while committing another crime like rape or robbery, etc. My goddaughter was friends with a girl who was the victim of a serial killer. I always think of the fear and pain she went through knowing he was going to kill her. That scumbag had been in prison and was released on a screw up so life in prison...just no. She'd be alive today if that scumbag had been put down and they need to cut the number of appeals way down too. If they don't want to die they shouldn't do the crime. They inflicted an unwarranted death sentence on their victims, they deserve no less than the same.

  • We were all born into a corruption of the Almighty's creation. - (original sin). Some realize this and try to climb out. Death is a punishment for this corruption. Jesus (Yahushuwah) taught a Way of life a part from the ways of the world to reestablish a relationship with the Almighty Father long lost from the beginning. He taught that if you followed his teachings one never has to die and gave the promise of the resurrection of the dead to those that believed.

  • It really depends on how bad of a crime they did, but most of the time I think it is inhumane. As they say, I believe two wrongs don't make a right. I believe they should get life in prison or locked up somewhere for the rest of their life.

  • The Commandment reads "Thou Shalt Not Kill" - not "Thou Shalt not kill unless the victim has committed a crime". Also, it has been clearly demonstrated that (1) if the death penalty is used, innocent people will die, and (2) the death penalty is used against people of certain races and backgrounds far more often than others.

  • Considering my views on the afterlife I feel like life in prison is a much worse fate. when we die, we get to go home. But to be stuck on this terrible planet in a cage or 70-80 years? I'm good. I'd rather die.

  • No, some people should be tortured though, like pedophiles, child abusers, people who harm the elderly and just plain cruel people.

  • i think a lifetime prison punishment is worse than execution.

if you get caught by some chinese police and get a lifetime long punishment in a rat hole with 30 people splitting a 15x15,,, i guess that's worse than exec.
