is tennis majorly mental or physical?
so putting it on a scale of 10,
for my, mental is atleast over half of physical, why?
When i failed to topspin the ball over the net, it's mainly mental, since my mind got lost focus and well, i started to suck.
It's main mental also because it's more about concentrating on the ball, not just look at the ball.
I personally gets better in tennis by effort
once I know how to play in the correct form, practicing makes it much much better without even realizing it.
when I failed now, it's mainly because I got distracted or lost focus or something, not because I'm tired or the ball is out of reach.

Desmond Oon, PhD, and Master Professional with USPTA had a little joke about this:
It's said that tennis is 90% mental, so what's the other 10 percent?
Answer:...... it's also mental :-)
Now, if you want to be competitive with high-level tennis players, then you need to do the same types of conditioning [aerobic, anaerobic, muscular, etc] that they are likely to be doing. Otherwise, you'll get blasted off the court. And, of course, if you're eating junk food, not giving yourself enough sleep, those kinds of things will eventually be a problem for you, too.
in my opinion they are equal.
tennis is without a doubt a mental sport. it is all about strategy and concentration. for example, when I play tennis I'm not very strong at all so I have to play mind games with my opponents instead and wear them out mentally. I'll hit shots which are harder to get such as drop shots, high topspin lobs, low shots, and cross court shots which drag the person far off the court. the concentration part of it is that you don't get angered after you mess up on one shot. I see this in a lot of opponents. they get hung up on one shot and that's where they just fail.
the physical aspect of tennis is also very important. you need to be physically fit to be able to use a split step continuously and run to save every ball. without muscle memory tennis would also be extremely hard! think about what would happen if your body continually forgot the motion of a forehand, backhand, volley, serve, or overhead while you're playing. a player would get nowhere. it is just as important as ones mentality.
or you could think of it this way. someone can play with no strategy, a little concentration, but be an amazing athlete and beat someone who's been playing for six years. (and yes it does happen!)
I think tennis is better for physics.
In my opinion they are equal.
