Does 5 year olds need passports to travel from Florida to New York?

I want to go to new york with my 5 year old son. I just want to know does he have to require a passport or a birth certificate is enough?

  • Neither are needed. Both Florida and New York are part of the United States of America. I would though suggest some sort of ID he could carry in a wallet or around the neck. Also if both of you are from out of the country, some hotels may require a passport.

  • How long have you lived in this country? He does not need a passport nor a birth certificate. You don't need those things when you live here, and travel within the States.

  • I have a 5 year old myself , you do not need a passport, birth certificate is enough :)....unless you're going out of the country you might!

  • New York is part of America! No one needs a passport or anything!

  • No one needs a passport, both Are in the us:)

  • Where security is concerned, you need neither for 5-year-old children. (Just a valid boarding pass.)

  • If you're already in America, obviously not.
