Box specs for a MA AUDIO hk15v2 sub?

Hello everyone.

I just had a box build for my sister's hk 15 from a local audio shop.

It's specs are 5 cubes,40 inches of port, and tuned to 27 hz.

I asked the tech if those were the right specs and he told me that's what he got from the internet.

I personally believe that the box should have been about 5 cubes,80 inches of port and tuned to about anywhere from 32 to 34 hz.

Well who would you say is closer to what the box specs should have been?

The way it is now or what I think how it should have been build?

btw,it doesn't sound too bad but off course there are no electrical upgrades and it's running off a Audiopipe ap18001d.

Thx:)

  • If they tuned and tested it for 27 hz, that's a better design for really low end. And since you have good 15" sub, you’re in good shape. To really make your system sound great, use what sales people and installers hate, use a nice EQ. This will fine tune your sound to your liking like nothing else ca. Techs and salespeople don't like EQ and always say bad thing about them because it kills sales.

With one eq you can make even stock component sound awesome. Every vehicle and amp and sub, and speakers have to produce about the same amount of energy on all frequencies. this only exist in theory. You can spend thousands of dollars buying different components, when all you need is a tiny adjustment.

Try this. I've been using it for year and it's very good. I know my music, I studied 7 years in music school in Russia. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O50VEQ/ref=s9...

You will be happy and so will your sister because she can tweak it to her liking... Women love variety and choices....
