Do pushups or not??!!!!?

a bodybuilder friend of mine put me on a workout. he said do logs of dumbell bench stuff and such but i told him i do about 300-400 pushups a day and he said to stop that bc its more of a toning not mass building. but i want to tone too, is it okay to do pushups on heavy dumbell days?

  • Absolutely! Pushups are a great exercise, they're not just toning, but build endurance as well. I do both all the time. They also increase your flexibility, which helps. I know a lot of body builders who look ripped out of they're minds but are not functionally strong. Doing high rep body weight workouts with very little rest in between sets sucks, to prove it, do something like that with your BB friend. I'd bet money he would die.

  • If your fingers are sore, knee pushups will likely be simply as mighty as constant pushups. But ensure you're now not overworking your fingers. You must deliver a minimum of forty eight hours earlier than you'll hit the identical muscle once more. A larger manner is to stay up for two-three days earlier than your do your chest physical activities once more. Then begin with constant pushups..do as many as you'll...then take a a million minute holiday. Then attempt to do constant pushups, in case you can't, transfer to knee pushups. This will aid you're employed your chest muscle tissues to failure.

  • There's really no reason to be doing more than 100 or so push-ups at a time; just keeping things in condition to do that every morning will suffice; if you want to build mass or strength, you need to go heavy with fewer reps. Doing hundreds and thousands of push-ups can in fact undo what you're trying to achieve, so do less of those. You might also do some pyramid-style push-up sequences, like this guy:
