Ps3 to tv hdmi cables problem?

I have no idea whats wrong with my Ps3 or tv, my old ps3 burnt out, it was a 1st gen so i bought a new one. Well i connect the ps3 into the phillips tv which supports 1080p but it keeps telling me that it is a unsupported signal. Funny thing is the xbox 360 works with 1080p on the same tv with the same hdmi cable. i connected the ps3 to my LG tv and it reads 1080i, the tv i believe doesn't have 1080p but it reads all the other 480p 720p 1080i

I tried on the phillips tv using the reset video by holding on the ps3 reset button for 5 seconds but it doesn't detect. Tried unplugging the tv for about a minute and plugging it back in and still no luck.

It reads standard AV but not the hdmi... I tried 2 other hdmi cables i have and still no luck.

Im guessing it might be something to do with the handshake between the ps3 and the tv.

Any help would be appreciated at this point im totally lost and would dearly like some help.

Update:

Tried that aswell, didn't work.

  • Tried what as well? I don't see another answer. Ha. I have heard of Phillips TVs having compatibility issues with the PS3. There are many threads about this. You might want to take it back and buy a different model. If you are just playing games, the LG is a good choice because most games are only 720p. However, if you want to play blu-ray movies as well, I can understand your concern about not receiving a 1080p signal.
