Into physics or biology?
Hi,
I am a grade 12 student who is only months away from graduation. I got accepted into University into Honors Molecular Genetics. Now I am required to make a timetable and choose courses for the coming year. however, I just developed an interest in Physics. So I am confused on whether I should switch courses or not. I wanted to experience a semester of both, but then I end up having either too many courses or having to risk not getting into pre-reqs for either for my second semester (if I take bio for my second sem and the physics classes gets full, I am screwed and vice versa). I need advice on which one is a better choice in terms of careers.
In Biology, I like:
-genetics
-cell biology
-microbiology
In physics, I like:
-quantum physics
-String theory
-nanotechnology
-particle theories
If I take Physics, would it be easy to get a joint honours in Mathematics?
It would be helpful if I knew about advantages I'd have going into either...
Please help!

Your problem has too many unknowns. It apperars to have no solution. You must narrow your choices and uncertainties. Make a supposition for one unknown--in other words, go for what you really want. You seem to say they won't let you just become more well rounded for your 1st year. That is unfortunate. It appears they want you to instantly succeed and help them with molecular genetics. If that is the deal, you must take it. If you don't like that deal, go somewhere else.
An up and coming career field is in biophysics, which sound like the best of both for you. The big thing is that your undergrad work is going to be the elementary level stuff. So I recommend taking classes in both and very likely you will have to anyway. I graduated with my B.S. in Ecology and Organismal Biology in 2005 and I had to take a few intro physics classes. Your main work will be done during Grad school, this is where you will specialize and do research. I am back now getting a teaching degree to teach biology and physics (another good option if you like to teach).
i like track yet i could drop that so i ought to take the two Physics and Biology. i like enjoying musical contraptions, yet i do in contrast to studying data approximately particular composers, track eras and compelled to place in writing a composition in a time shrink. only think of of track as something relaxing which you will study your self by ability of listening to track and doing each and every thing at abode, like piano classes etc. So yeah, drop track. you're able to do track in inner maximum once you're older and study a thank you to make a band and stuff your self.
