How do you copy and paste text into Adobe Photoshop CS6 beta?

So, I'm working on a "Newspaper" for my English class alongside other friends in my group. For simplicity's sake, we wrote all of our text on a Google Doc. Now, at home, when I need to copy and paste all of my text into my Photoshop document, it does not seem to be working. Anyone else running into the problem, and how can this problem be solved?

Yes...I know you have to open the text tool.

    You have to open the text tool before you can paste text in it.

    I always thought that once something is copied to the Windows Clipboard, you use File>New>Image From Clipboard to put it into Photoshop's workspace.
