How do you import a sim into your sims 2 game?

i downloaded a sim i want to play with, but i have no idea how to add him to the game. anyone how?

also, i got it from the official Sims site.

    The downloaded sim would be in the little premade sim section. It will have one of those funky stars on the upper right.
