How to set up a company?

I would like to create a tutoring company in my city because of the poor level of education many of its students are receiving and the fact that most of the students are struggling in their respective schools. It is a bit complicated but unique company because it will be made up entirely of high school students ready to make an impact in their community. I will not go into the details in order to keep the uniqueness but I just need help in how to create a multi-employee business.

I googled on the internet and there were many hits but none of them were really helpful besides providing vague generalities on what to do. I would like to know the very specifics like how to make a trademark, how to register the company for federal/state stuff, and so forth.

If you know of any links or books that are extremely helpful, your contribution would be greatly appreciated.

But if you yourself have created a business that is multi-employee, could you give a short bio on what you did? I would love to read how you managed to create such a company.

Thank you

  • You can search for Secretary of State for Your state (for example, I am in Colorado so I would search for Secretary of State for Colorado). You can register your business there.

You can get you EIN from the first link (free).

The SBA is probably a good start and I would also recommend SCORE

There are some sites like Legalzoom - but I would call around and talk to some local attorneys. Some might offer to help you at little to no cost if they like your business plan.

But this way, having a local attorney will be much better for you - unfortunately, you will probably need his / her services quite a bit. And you want to make sure that you follow all the local laws relating to children
