Fantasy Baseball trade?

Would this trade work?

I give: Johan Santana and Michael Cuddyer

I get: Gary Sheffield, Jake Peavy, and Matt Cain

Who Would get the better part

  • If you were offer this trade, I definitely do it! Johan Santana is struggling and Michael Cuddyer is an on-off player, you get Sheffield an rbi machine, plus 25-30 home runs, the best pitcher in baseball right now (Jake Peavy) and a talented pitcher in Matt Cain ( lot of K's).

Accept the trade before the other player comes to his senses.

  • Yeah, if the guy accepts though. You would be getting the better part of it. Sheffield and Peavy are doing great at the moment, and adding Cain to your team just gets better. Santana is not at his best right now and I haven't heard much from Cuddyer lately. The trade works on your side.

  • I'd have to say that you get the better part. Santana at the current moment isn't performing up to par, even though he'll probably get better as the season progresses. Sheffield is still a home run machine, Peavy and Cain are doing fine, so the trade looks good to me.

  • I would make the trade just because Santana isn't having a great year plus Sheffield is a monster right now and Peavy is a strikeout machine.

  • You would, here's why. Peavy almost has as much value as Santana right now. Sheffield is greatly better than Cuddyer. Even if you took Cain out of the deal you would win. So, go ahead.

  • The question you'd have to ask is: How much better is Matt Cain then my current last-place SP?

    Cain 10 W, 170 K, 3.60 ERA, 1.25 WHIP on the year.

Santana vs Peavy is a lean toward Santana:

    S: 18 W, 240 K, 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP vs

    P: 18 W, 225 K, 2.80 ERA, 1.10 WHIP

Cuddyer for Sheff, however, leans the other way:

    Cuddyer 90 R, .290, 22 HR, 110 RBI, 5 SB

    Sheffield 110 R, .280, 35 HR, 115 RBI, 15 SB

So again, the question you should ask yourself is: How much better is Matt Cain then my current worst SP? If your answer is, "Dude, he's TOtally better...in fact, why is Michael Bowie even ON my team?" then go for it. If you're thinking, "Meh...he's a lil' better, but nothin' to write home about," then let it go.

  • Do that! Peavy is having an amazing year and so is Sheffield, and Cain is a good pitcher.

  • i would take that trade u would come out better off...johan santana is not playing up to his potential and all the guys u r getting are good solid players...take the trade

  • I would rather get your side. Matt Cain has been dominant in the second half over his career. However, I don't find this trade unreasonable.

  • it is not even close. No commerce. Navarro is a good catcherbut Harden if greater efficient than Lilly and Fielder is greater efficient at his place than Navarro. i'm questioning in case you have a 1B already and it is the reason you're even staring at this commerce? if so, you may make a greater efficient deal than this one. you will discover a returned-up on the FA checklist.
