Where do the following foods get digested in the digestive system?
Roast Beef
Carrot
Green Beans
Potato
1 slice of chocolate cake
PLEASE HELP!!
Beef - primarily protein & fat
Carrot - primarily water & fibre
Green beens - water & fibre + starch
Potato - primarily water & startch
Chocolate cake - sugar & starch
Protein is maninly digested by the stomach through peptin protein proteolysis.
Fibre is mostly undigested.
Water is absorbed by the large intestine (colon).
Starch is borken down a little by amalyse in saliva, but primarily by other enzymes in the small intestine (duodenum)
Sugar doesnt need to be digested if its glucose, but other sugar molecules are borkwn down in small intestine.
Fats are primarily broken down by pancreatic juices with aid from bile (from gall bladder) by pancreatic lipase enzymes.
