  • the geforce 4mmx is quite a old card now,and is only capable of playing direct x 8 games,so you should be looking at buying either a ge-force 6 or 7 series card

depending on your budget theres loads to choose from however heres my top three geforce cards for under £100

also as you have a geforce 4mmx this signifies you have a agp interface,so we will concentrate on them

the 128MB XFX 6600GT AGP 8x(http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?Web... a good card with decent clock speeds and memory,it has pixel and shader model 3.0 and direct x 9 compatible, all these specs are ideal for the games you listed

it also features Microsoft DirectX® 9.0

    nVidia cineFX 3.0

    nVidia Dgital Vibrance Control 3.0

    nVidia Intellisample 3

    nVidia nView Multi-Display Technology

    nVidia Shader Model 3

    nVidia Ultrashadow 2

    nVidia Unified Driver Architecture

    OpenGL 2.0

    Pure-Video

,this itself makes this a good value card

next i have chosen the 256MB Leadtek 7600GT, AGP 4x/8x, (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?Web... is a favourite of mine, probally because i am using one at the moment, what i like about this card is its great clock speed(560mhz),this makes it excellent for games that require fast frame rates such as final fantasy

and the geforce 7600gt is probally the best mid range card avalible, with memory speed of 1400mhz and a video memory of 256mb this is a solid card that wont let you down

finally i have gone for the 256MB XFX 7800GS (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?Web... is the best geforce card avalible in the agp range, although its clock speed is lower than the 7600gt it has more pixel pipelines(16)were the 7600gt has only 12,and also this card is 256bit were the 7600gt is only 128bit,all these extra features make the 7800gs a very fast card

all these cards require a extra power source so you will have to check your current power supply, for the geforce 6600gt and 7600gt you need at least a 400watt power supply, and for the 7800gs i would recommend a 500watt psu.go for the 550W EZcool Silent pPFC Power Supply AMD & P4 Ready (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?Web... is a bargain for £20 and will run both these cards with power to spare

finally if you want to try a A.T.I radeon card(which are very good) then the 512MB HIS Radeon X1650Pro (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?Web... a brilliant card, you get your moneys worth with the x1650pro,just look at the size of this beast, and the specs are good too

a core clock speed of 600mhz makes this even faster than the 7800gs and the memory clock speed of 800mhz is not too bad

and with 512mb of video memory ,this is another good point, however the card us let down by the 128bit interface, however this is a good card and will play any game you throw at it,and with that iceQ cooling system at least it wont get too hot

all these cards are excellent in their own right, however for all round solid performance it must be between the 7600gt and 7800gs,any of these and you have class

    good luck angela!

  • The video card is the device in a computer that outputs visual information to the monitor. Video cards are also called video adapters or graphics cards. GPUs get faster and faster with each generation. Now they are at the point where they no longer give a benefit to certain monitors. Without a graphics card to perform the necessary calculations. There is no such thing as a perfect video card for all situations, but by ... social media consultant

  • 8800 GTS is a very nice card... not as expensive as the 8800 GTX but it still has Direct X10, and is still top of the line...

I would suggest going to sites like newegg.com or tigerdirect.com and looking in your price range...

I used to play a game called Lineage II (similar to WoW) and my Radeon X700 worked just fine with that game, and that card is a good 2 years old now, so you don't really need something new and up-to-date

  • Radeon provide some very good graphics cards. Ensure that whichever you buy is an AGP card and not a PSI based card. Also ensure that it has DirectX10 built in or is directX10 compatible.

  • open side of case look for either a brown fitting which is agp or white which is pci sounds like agp try yoyotech for graphic cards

  • start>run

    type

    dxdiag

    click ok

your graphics card will be listed under the display tab

  • get an ew one for newegg.com
