i'm tryna sell a gas oven but i know nothing about it since it was given to me used and somebody asked me, how do i know if i take it that it's not gonna explode in my house?? do they ever?
They only explode if they are leaking gas or left on without the burners burning. If it is just siting there, and no gas leaks, there is no threat. It is just a big metal box at that point.

Most anything that uses gases could have the opportunity to explode if it was poorly maintained or damaged.
Considering the millions of devices installed, both residential and commercially, this does not happen often.
Have it checked out by a professional prior to installation. Peace of mind ought to be worth the $65.

all the time
i would have it installed by a professional and checked to make sure there are no gas leaks..
As kirk stated, of course it has happened before, but is it likely? No.
