Is this a good fitness program?

2 mile run, every day

alternating days of push ups and lifting weights, and sit ups and squats. I am doing 3 or 4 sets of as many as i can.

I want to improve my fitness and build muscle. Will this do it, and how can i improve this?

Update:

So if i leave the weekends to recover, but i run monday to friday is that okay? I'm leaving my arms a rest day, while i work on my core, and visa, versa is that okay?

  • okay, to get into shape , speed up your metabolism, rid yourself of excess fat and lose weight ,,,,,do as follows:

    Stop drinking & smoking (if you do this regularly)

    eat fruits & vegetables all you can (buy a food/rice steamer to make it easy on you)...(vegetables might not seem "tasty", like junk foods,, but can be as you aquire your taste to them..and are loaded with energy and nutrients)...avoid all junk food, cokes, sweets, etc...and drink water . If you eat meat ,,use only steamed, baking or grilled methods for preparing fish or chicken.

    also, do an hour of walking each day at least. or some type of excercise.

    * you should lose about 10 lbs per month

  • Don't do it every day if you want to build muscle you need at least one rest day (two ideally). When you're working out you're actually weakening your muscles and tearing apart your muscle fibers, to build muscle you must first break down the muscles by working out most days then get some protein in you have a rest and allow the body to rebuild your muscles even stronger

  • It's good. Try Running faster sometimes and slower other times so you don't get bored or walk a little sprint a little is what I do. It is more effective
