How do i connect to my minecraft server?

Okay, so a couple friends wanted me to make a server so im trying. This is the first time i had ever tried to make one.

Okay so i watch port forwarding tutorials. Copied exactly what they said, and it says that my external ip connects to 25565. So i rebooted the mincraft_server.exe, and tried to connect with my external. Its says "Can't reach Server".

I could use the help. Thanks

one more, it worked that i put localhost, will it work for my friends if they put my external?

    Try instead of your external ip put "localhost" or "local.host" it should work using one those (I'm pretty sure its the first one)
