  • Ask a friend for help or something because I don't think people are going to waste their time doing your homework for you. Research Federalists and Democratic Republicans on the Internet. You should really take more notes in class, study harder, take notes, and ask the teacher for help. If you have a textbook you can use that for help.

Edit: What grade are you in?

  • The Federalists inherited the position of the old Tories when we were a colony. They believed in a strong central government. Their opponents were the Whigs, somewhat like today's Republicans. When the Federalist party collapsed, They were succeeded by the Republican Party (Democratic-Republicans, later called the Democrats). In the 1850's the Whig party went into a decline. There was a need for an anti-slavery party. A new party was formed which was called the Republican party. Early party lines were drawn differently in a country where most people earned their income from agriculture. Factions were the Eastern shipping and fishing interests, the manufacturing interests, the Southern planters, the small Southern farmers, the Norther farmers, and the Western farmers.
