Car ac compressor problem?

While trying to remove my drive belt I took the head off my ac compressor (the part that rotates when it engages). I figured out the proper way to change the belt, however the ac compressor will partially rotate while not engaged and once what appeared to be burning oil came out. I see evidence of heat stress on the head. Do I need to put grease or some washer inside the head of the compressor?

  • the part that rotates is not the head it is the clutch assembly and do not grease it , if you have clean

it very well hopefully you installed this correctly if not you may have just cost yourself a compressor

and if you damaged the clutch is some cases it is just as well to mput a new compressor on. then the evac the system and recharge . i seem to question the clutch because you removed it trying to replace a belt which is usually never the case , and you may have damaged it. or incorrectly installed it.

  • If you removed the head of the a/c comp , you will need to replace the a/c comp (sorry ) but they sux you cant get them back togeather , and if you do they will leak , and they cost a lot around $200.00 to $300.00 bucks good luck . you can try to get it back togeather and the best of luck but i cant 30 years exp on cars and big trucks
