Algebra problem Help :) pleasee?
I have a quick algebra word problem that I need a little help with. If anyone could help, thank you so much!
1.
De' Andre has let out 25 yd of kite string when he sees that his kite is directly above Lynn. If De' Andre is 7 yd from Lynn, how high is the kite?
Thank you so much for any help!

I'm not 100% sure this is correct but I used the pythagorean theorem to figure it out he is seven yards away from Lynn so that's the bottom (b) and he let out 25 yards of string (c) so you need to find the height (a) so if it's a[]+b[]=c[] ( SQUARED is [] looks like a square ) then you'd square 7 to get 49. Then you'd square 25 to get 625. Not you would normally add a and b but we don't have a so well have to minus 49 from 625 to get... 576. So a[] would be 576 next you would find the square root of that to get 24. So I'd say the height of the kite is 24 yds.... I hope this is right I think it is.
I'm guessing we're using Pythagorean Theorem here.
Just think of a right triangle. http://mrhiggins.net/algebra2/wp-content/uploads/2...
De' Andre is at point A, the kite is at point B, and Lynn is at point C.
The length of the kite is the hypotenuse 25 yd
One of the legs is the distance from Andre to Lynn which is 7yds
a² + b ² = c ²
a² + 7² = 25²
a² + 49 = 625
a² = 576
√a² = √576
a = 24 yd
you may understand first so you might use variables to represent values. enable "x" = "a impressive determination". Sum potential addition so the sum of a impressive determination and 3 may well be written: x + 3. To sq. it, we write: (x+3) ^2. We use the parentheses because of the fact we are sq. the huge type AND its sum with 3. the undertaking reads: this fee is comparable to a hundred and forty four. So we write :(x+3) ^2 = a hundred and forty four. Then, we resolve using the algebraic regulations: (x+3) ^2 = a hundred and forty four To do away with the "sq." section, we do the inverse operation that's locate the sq. root. we come across the sq. root of the two facets to get : x+3 = 12 Now get x by potential of itself and do the inverse operation back and subtract 3 from the two facets. x = 9. that's your answer. you may examine by potential of plugging this into your unique equation.
C=A+B
25+7=32
25 is your height and 7 is your base and 32 will be hypontenuse
The answer is 32 yards.
