Can stomach cramps do actual damage to you?
I am almost 18 and I am in cross country I did it my freshman year and then didn't go out and just went out again my senior year and yesterday was my first meet while I was running I got a stomach cramp on my right side just below my rib cage I've gotten plenty of stomach cramps in my life and none were really that bad and I could just ignore them but this one was bad and I didn't want to lose so I just tried to ignore it and keep running fast it started to get worse so I grabbed it and squeezed while running it just hurt so bad and it kind of went numb but where I could still tell it was there then about 30 seconds later it came back even worse I just completly ran through it and when I finished I couldn't even stand up straight the pain was still there for about 45 minutes after running but not near as bad so I just ignored it and then today when I was just walking in the halls I still feel pain of a cramp should I be worried about this or just suck it up

The stomach cramps you're describing are probably due to a lactic acid build up in that area, your liver, and the sudden need for your liver to release glycogen, the body's main fuel store. They are not damaging in themselves, you hear of people saying 'feel the burn' , 'no pain, no gain' etc. Your body is out of the condition you had in your freshman year. It will improve the more you exercise but don't push through the pain. You should rest and let it pass as you're just putting stress on your liver and surrounding muscles that they'd be happier to be without!
