How do I do a system restore on a Macbook pro? help!?

I've been messing around with my itunes/ipod because lately it's been giving me problems. So I went to downgrade to an early version of itunes and completely erased my itunes, and I want to find a way to go "back in time" to undo that, because it seems like it's giving me more problems now then it was before.

I know about the time machine, but I'm not sure how to set it up, it only shows something about airport connections.

Any advice would be great!

ps; I'm running OSX Snow Leopard.

  • Time Machine is the tool to go back in time.

If you didn't pony up the cash for a Time Machine drive (old joke: Bought a Mercedes. No money left to buy gas.), and the only problem is missing iTunes.app, download a new app free at the link below.

If you have some other issues, and really need to reinstall, do this....

-- Restart holding the option key for 45 seconds.

-- Insert the "Mac OS X Install DVD".

-- Select the DVD, and press Return.

-- Go past the language choice, and install.

This will give you a 100% fresh OS with the previous system files placed in a folder called "Previous Systems".
