Honda CG 125 Problem (1998?

Rite, ive got a problem with my motorbike, it started when i went through quite a big puddle, shortly after that my bike backfired quite badly, smoked alot, then stopped altogether. i got it going again and got it home. Now on my way to work everyday it wont go over say 35 ish, if i pull rite back on the throttle it jerks, looses power, sorta feels like im running out of petrol. Ive noticed when i go down a big hill i can go flat out but the whole bike vibrates quite badly, but after the hill my bike seems to go back to normal, even if i slow down and go again. then the next morning it happens all over again! does anybody know what the problem is? i spoke to a bloke at a garage and he said to drain the float chamber on the carb, i done that and it ran fine for about 5 miles or so and then started playing up again? thanks..

  • You've sucked a load of sh1t into the carb when going scuba diving. It's likely that you've got a big gob of muck hanging around the jet/needle/carb-in-general. You need to strip and clean the carb, not just drain the float bowl.

  • Your bike has likely taken in water through the air filter or/and into the carburettor.

    If the air filter is soaked in water then the air mixture will likely be less and this will affect your engine performance, similarly if the water has reached the carb then the fuel won't burn as effectively since it is contaminated with water.

    The air filter is a cylinder with metal mesh which filters mainly contaminated air and not water.

    To check, remove the air filter which for a CG is probably just below the seat within some plastic panel on one side and requires just a screw driver, remove and check for water/moisture and contamination of dirt, dust etc.

    If there is no presence of water/contamination of dirt then it is likely to have affected your carb, if this is so then the carb will likely remove any water by itself in time. But if the carb is contaminated with dirt then it may need removing and cleaning.

    The fuel tank is unlikely to be affected since the fuel is fed from a sealed tank into the carb, the carb is the metal pipe shape below your tank and above the engine, fuel is fed from the tank with a plastic transparent tube and a fuel stopper.

    The carb is connected to your throttle which allows a valve within it to open and close allowing the air/fuel moisture to alter to the cylinder piston and produce torque.

    If the carb or air filter is not the issue and not contaminated then it may be the spark plug, although I'm unsure whether water would affect this.

    Good luck and remember to do some of the basic maintenance yourself as it is simple and cheaper.

  • Junk all the fuel in the tank,reserve too,drain the float bowl and refill with fresh fuel.take out the air filter and check the air box for water and I'd renew the spark plug cap as well,good quality,NJK plug cap at least,they just unscrew off and back on.

    And take off the ignition plate cover on the motor and spray WD40 all over the inside and wires.

  • I would drain the card and gas tank than fill up with some preium gas and run some sea foam fuel cleaner with the fresh gas, u might have water in the tank.. Drain the old gas out, put fresh gas with some sea foam or stp gas treatment and run it then

  • Greek persons in north London? O.O i was born in Harrow and i have been in all places London however i'm lovely definite i've by no means noticeable any problems with Greek folks in London??! In London its more often than not asians ( and they don't ordinarily reason situation) and east Europeans ( they do not customarily have darkish dermis) so i think your as a rule bullshitting, maybe you should move out of London love!!

  • I'd replace the air filter and generally clean things.

  • there's a devise in the exhaust that regulates emitions sounds like water has shorted it out take off exhaust and run for a while or if 2 stroke you have run it on pure gas and not added 2 stroke mixture
