Macbook Pro problems. Help please?

Okay, here are some quirks of my Macbook Pro that's been occurring lately.

I've had my Macbook Pro since last June.

1. No Volume

When I turn on my MBP, sometimes there is no volume. Even when I press any volume-related button, nothing will help. I have to reboot my MBP and then it will be okay again.

I've experienced this way back, but only for a few times. Now, it's happening frequently.. and sometimes I have to reboot it a few times before it will be okay again.

Here's how it looks:

2. Screen light when on Youtube.

Normally, when you're on Youtube, the screen light doesn't go off or dim, right? Lately, mine does. I've only experienced it this March.

3. The "click" sound when my MacBook Pro is moved.

I sometimes hear "click" sounds when I move my Macbook Pro.

4. It hangs/lags.

The one where the cursor turns into a rainbow-circle thing. I mean, yea I know this is a laptop.. but, is it normal for a Macbook Pro to hang/lag? It only happens a few times though.

If these aren't normal, please give me some solutions to the problems, or please tell me if this is a defective unit so that I can ask for a unit change before my 1 year warranty ends.

  • You cannot ask for a "unit change", but you can certainly take your computer to an Apple Service Center and have them check it. If there are hardware problems, they will fix them. Sometimes software that you have loaded on to the computer can cause some of the issues you mentioned, but not all. I would absolutely have the computer checked. If they are real problems, they could be very expensive to fix after the warranty period.

Also, if you are very far from an Apple center or an Apple authorized dealer, you can ask to have it picked up. Apple will arrange to have it transported to a service facility and will return it to you. That way can take a bit longer, but you may prefer it.
