Slow MacBook Pro problem?

Every time I open up anything on my MacBook Pro the stupid pinwheel comes up and I have to wait about a minute before it goes away. Before the pinwheel never came up on my MacBook Pro, this only started today. I tried looking at my activity monitor and everything looks fine and I can't seem to know what the problem is. My computer worked completely fine all the way up until this point in time. I also updated to the latest software for MacBook right now and it didn't help at all. Please help out!

  • Look at the Page Outs for the memory in Activity Monitor, if the numbers are high then you need more RAM.

Look at the remaining space for the hard drive in Activity monitor, if the number is low then you either need to delete some data, transfer data to an external drive or, install a bigger hard drive.

There are other issues that might be at fault though. Try running the troubleshooting steps from here.
