can i upgrade my processor to a core 2 duo?

i have a dell optiplex 755 cpu.there is an e 8400 core 2 duo processor in it.can i upgrade to a quad core 3 ghz.if not what is the maximum limit to which i can up grade my processor?

    Well the cpu you stated is a lga 775 socket CPU. This CPU is a dual core but it has 4 threads "Pentium Extreme Edition 965" and This CPU is a quad core "Core 2 Extreme QX9770"
