DO you have a personal dress code?

Do you hold yourself to a dress code due to personal convictions?

I do, and was talking to a friend, and she thought it was weird.

My code is:

No spaghetti straps.

No minnie skirts

no shorts.

no tube tops.

no midriff exposure.

No excessive cleavage.

It's not religious, I just don't feel its appropriate for a woman who is married with children (r anyone, really,) to be showing a lot of skin. Am I prudish in this standing?

I don't dress frumpy by any stretch of the imagination, generally knee length skirts and dress, straight legged trousers and jeans, and nicer blouses.

I just see so many girls walking around like Hooters waitresses, and think its disgraceful. AM I alone, or is modesty truly uncool?

Update:

Andy, Do you think that you have to show a lot of skin to accent your best features? Isn't it better to leave something to the imagination?

  • No, I agree. I don't think women (very young or very old) or, in your case, personally modest, should show excessive skin. My friends wear crotch skirts and tube tops, and I'm fine with them dresisng that way (We're 13-14), but I prefer to look a little bit more...classy, as opposed to sexy, or whatever they're going for. I wear knee to floor length skirts and dresses, usually short sleeves, occasionally vest-sized straps. I like weird clothes, yes, but I prefer to have taste over skin. I feel like I'm being uppity now, though.

On another note, I never wear stilettos. They look funny to me. It's so...skinny under that huge shoe! I also hate excessive hooker makeup - I wear it on the "less is more" rule, unless I'm costuming.

  • its not strange at all

im 16 and i dont show much skin, but i do like mini skirts with tights. i think tube tops and mini mini skirts are skanky at any age. i am not a prude and its not religion i just dont want to look cheap. and no im not uncool either my friends and others have commented that they love my unique style so covering up isnt bad. makes you more classy and adds some imagination haha

  • i dont think its bad that you have a personal dress code as long as you look good and feel good wearing the clothes you want why not..... well for me personally i dont wear that much make up coz i think it makes me look cheap

  • that's boring!

what's wrong with straps and tube tops?

i mean it depends on your age of course, but jeesh, if ya got it, show it off a little.

    i have no "code"..

  • No you're not the only one. Modesty is cool!

  • mine is:

    no strapless tops/dresses

    no tube tops

    no clothing that reveals bra/panties

    no baby tee's

    no v necks

    :D
