I saw that three people with the name of Dorris answered the same question in here today. Maybe they are related because those same three respondents appeared to have the same level of intelligence.
I've never met a female Doris in my life time but I've met a few guys with the nickname Doris, and these are usually guys with the surname Day, as in Doris Day, hence the nickname.

I have never met a Doris. I think there would be a lot more Dorises in England and I guess a few immigrated to Australia
