I believe he says that he is fghting for his friends and that he fights with his friends to create his own reality, not to stick to the facade that was implanted in his mind when he was under Mako-infused Jenova cell regeneration after being pertruded by Sephiroth's Masamune when he fought alongside Zack during the Nibelheim inferno incident at the Jenova Reactor cell. Cloud was being healed using Jenova cells and Jenova had the ability to carry on memes and memories, as well as scramble chains of memories within people...the cells were being administered to Zack and Cloud through a single machine made by Professor Hojo, and the cells were reacting two the two at the time. However, Cloud lost consciousness due to over-exposure to Mako energy, so hs mind was adapting to that of Zack's under Jenova's will. Anyway....to cut the story short...I believe the line that sums eerything up is when he says: "My reality...is mine alone."
If you Played FF7(the origin of Cloud Strife) you learn he isn't real to begin with, he is a clone(Like Sephiroth) and that he stole the memories of Zack...so Cloud is just an Emo Kid without real purpose other than to fill a character slot.
