  • Let's get to your questions in order...

There are two islands with dinosaurs on them...Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna.

Isla Nublar was only used in the first movie.

Isla Sorna was the island used in the second and third movies. It's quite interesting though, if you look closely in the third movie you can see the vehicle with a broken window that Malcolm was trapped in with the raptor attacking in the second movie. I haven't seen Jurassic Park III in a while, so I can't pinpoint the exact point of the movie where you can see it.

The question about Isla Sorna having dinosaurs is actually answered at the beginning of The Lost World when Hammond and Malcolm. He states that the animals were born on Nublar and when they started getting bigger they were moved to Sorna to grow up and then were moved back to Nublar as fully grown attractions.

As evidenced by the third movie, it seems that a lab was eventually built up on Sorna.

Now for the spinosaurus suddenly appearing in the third movie while being conspicuously absent in the second movie, it's entirely possible that the group in the second movie avoided the part of the island that the spinosaurus inhabited completely. Alan Grant's character also speculates just after encountering the spinosaurus about what InGen can possibly have been up to.

**EDIT** After reading the above answers, it does occur to me that Hammond may have mentioned something about observation to Malcolm during their conversation. But, I still believe that they moved the animals back to Nublar after they grew up.

  • Are you talking about the rides at Universal Studios? I'm kinda disappointed with the Jurassic Park ride. The Dino's aren't very scary, and the drop down the final hill is kinda tame. Jaws is pretty cheesy, but it's pretty cool in a cheesy kind of way. Movies? Jaws was done in the mid 70's. Comparing jaws to Jurassic Park is like comparing apples to oranges. I prefer Jurassic Park, I guess.

  • The first island was to be used as an amusement park. The second island was to be used as space to oberve and research the dinosaurs. There were LOTS os species pn the second island that hadn't yet been moved to the park, because they were still being researched. The second island is features in the novels, as well.

  • If I recall correctly, the third movie was based on the idea that there was a second island used for research and development that noone knew about. But I'm not sure.

  • the second island was the "test" island. it wasn't supposed to be there, they had no permission to have all those other dinosaurs! - that's my understanding anyway!
