Now he claims to be pro-life, but I think he is just pretending to be in order to get elected. I think he is a closet-pro-choicer, who knows those views don't fit the views of his supporters, and will remain complacent on this issue if elected.
It is always in the republican party's interest of success, to claim to be pro-life in order to get elected, and then remain complacent on the issue once elected. The republican party benefits from something called the Roe Effect, where abortion being legal erodes the political base of the people who think it should be legal.
The bottom line is, politicians can't be trusted to reduce abortion.
"Since the girlfriend of one of Mitt Romney's relatives died during an illegal abortion operation"
And if he really is pro-life, then he wants that abortion practitioner put in jail, as a deterrant against future abortion practitioners. You know, the person who committed an act of violence that caused the death of that relative's girlfriend.
Pre Roe v. Wade, it seldom was the formerly pregnant woman who gets prosecuted, it was the abortionist. Women were seen as victims, and even though it may be legal today, they still are victims of the abortion industry's coercion. As the motto of Femanists for Life says, women deserve BETTER than abortion.
