Dress for church/temple/mosque?

I'm on a journey to find a religion. I want to be respectful to other religions and I want to know the standards and maybe what to expect. I dyed the end of my hair purple, which i can tie and cover in a scarf or the likes. I know Hindu temples you have to wear pants and cover your shoulders. Please help! Thanks so much!

  • In Jewish synagogues, your shoulders, at the very least, need to be covered at all times, and decent hemlines are required for women. Orthodox Jews require skirts/dresses to be down to the ankle.

In most Islamic mosques, everyone must remove shoes before entering, and women are required to have their hair covered.

To be absolutely safe in any religious venue, keep colors subdued and shoulders and ankles covered.

  • A modest, dark-colored dress is always appropriate anywhere you go to church. Make sure it's not too short, and that it covers the top half of you. In other words, no plunging necklines and such.
