That said, the word "sport" depends on physical skills. Chess is not a game that uses any physical skills at all. A very admirable game, but not a sport.

Sports about exercising the body. Since chess exercises the mind it is a sport.
In my poinion the only true sports are hunting and fishing, everything else is a game.
don't think you'd have a whole stadium around a chess match, verses a college football game
