is psychology a respected degree?

im thinking about studying psychology at university but was wondering is it respected as a degree when it comes to finding a job ?

do employers view psychology as an "easy" degree or is it valued as sciences such as chemistry or physics?

  • Easy. Not a mainstream subject.

  • There are many fields that you can go into with a psychology degree, but to practice psychology you will need to go to graduate school and get either a masters or doctorate. If you just want a good paying job go into business for the money.

If you are interested the subject matter of psychology there are many books that explain the many areas of psychology. A good site to visit is the American Psychological Association www.apa.org , this will give you many options to what you can do with a psych degree.

  • I don't really feel as if it is a respected degree, unless you get your Masters or Doctorate. I have a psychology degree and found it was very difficult to find an employer who took the degree seriously. They would ask me what I thought I could do with it, why I chose it etc. I definitely don't recommend getting a bachelors degree in psychology without another degree or a minor in something more specific.

  • Do you want to do psychology or not?

If you do , do it and back yourself to sell your clear minded pursuit of something that stimulates you to any HR dept in the land, you evidently respect what you have been trying to do

If you want an easy degree that impresses they don't exist and you don't deserve a job because you are a lazy time server

If you couldn't sell an understanding of the human mind in any job that involves people, including management , business, marketing, uniformed services etc et, you wouldn't have learned much and it would be the lack of learning that hampered you, not the degree.

  • sure it is.
