Think of mass as weight. (Not technically the same but it will help you visualize the question / answer. There only 3 ways I know to change mass. One is to physically add something to the original quantity. Remove a piece of the original quantity. The other, according to Einstein, is to have a given mass travel near the speed of light.

Add alka-seltzer ===> assuming no loss of spray you are adding mass ===> total mass increases
